A Message from the Chapter: |
Welcome to the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Beta Mu Chapter website! We are honored to be able to serve Wayne State University and the Metro Detroit Community since being chartered on April 3, 1936.
For nearly 86 years, the Beta Mu Chapter has prided itself in continuing the legacy of scholarship, sisterhood and service to all mankind. Through providing programs that meet the needs of our campus and surrounding community, we have continually set an example of what it means to be a dedicated and impactful young woman. Under the administration of our International President Danette Anthony Reed, our chapter continues to succeed with our new them "Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood," the 2022-2026 administration seeks to build upon Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority's rich legacy through our six initiative; Strengthen Our Sisterhood, Empower Our Families, Build Our Economic Wealth, Enhance Our Environment, Advocate for Social Justice, and Uplift Our Local Community. As a chapter of the Great Great Lakes Region, we are "Greater Together" in sisterhood and service under the great leadership of our Regional Director Gwendolyn L. Kirtley. We are fully committed to working towards achieving the mission of our great sorority. You are invited to explore our website for information about our chapter and what we have to offer Wayne State University and our campus community.
